Hi, I'm Katy!

I'm a rising third-year PhD student at the University of Southern California Information Sciences Institute.

I am a member of CUTELABNAME, advised by Jon May.

My research focuses on low-resource neural machine translation, and my current work is on Central American indigenous languages, like K'iche'.

I'm also interested in fairness and bias in large language models, anti-LGBTQ+ bias in NLP, and ethical deployment of AI systems.

I have a BS in Computer Science and a BA in Letters, both from the University of Oklahoma.

I have previously worked at LANL Ultrascale Systems Research Center, Digital Latin Library, and OU IDEA Lab.
